Founding Members

Allison Roe MBE

Allison Roe’s name is considered to be health brand.  She is best known for setting world records (marathon and 20k) and for winning the New York and Boston Marathons.  She was recently inducted into the Hall of Fame (2010) and has been voted onto the Waitemata District Health Board.  The daughter of a GP, Allison has been intensely interested in holistic health, organics and the environment for many years and has passionately raised funds through her Run2Heal series for breast cancer and various health initiatives for over 15 years. She was awarded a full academic and sporting scholarship to UCLA in 1975, but chose to forgo that opportunity in favour of athletic training in the best environment in the world and pursued a business qualification instead.  Allison is a wife, mother and businesswoman whose heart is very much in helping others find the tools to ‘live the life they love’.

Dr Paul Butler

Dr Paul Butler is a registered general medical practitioner who has an interest in environmental and integrative medicine.  He has been in practice in Milford on the North Shore since 1986.  Paul along with his partner Josee are currently resident in the UK studying towards MScs in Holistic Science at Schumacher College.

Diana Hardwick-Smith

Dip ND, Medical Herbalist
Diana Hardwick-Smith is a qualified Naturopath, Medical Herbalist and Registered Nurse.
Diana’s career as a health practitioner began in nursing and midwifery, and then encompassed qualifications in naturopathy and medical herbalism and natural fertility and preconception care.
Diana practices in her own naturopath clinic specialising in allergies and women’s health. She spent 18 months working with Natural Hormone Therapy (NHT) at different Medical Centres around Auckland and currently works part time at “The Centre for Advanced Medicine” (CAM) Remuera with chelation therapy and high dose intravenous vitamin C.  and incorporate wholistic approaches for healing.

Dr. Jacques Imbeau

DCNZ
Graduating from the Faculty of Dental Medicine – University of Montreal, Canada, Dr. Imbeau has over 30 years experience in all aspects of dental and oral health and diseases and is director of the Integrative Dental & Natural Health Centre and is registered in New Zealand as a general dental practitioner (DCNZ) with a specific interest in integrative dental and natural health care.
Dr. Imbeau is also a chartered member of the New Zealand Charter of Health Practitioner and is registered as a natural medicine practitioner with the New Zealand Natural Medicine Association.  In addition he is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine (FACNEM), a full professional member of AIMA, ACNEM, NZDA, NZMA and ADA.

Jacqui Simcock

Dip ND, Medical Herbalist
With a passion for wholistic health and educating others, Jacqui has been working within the natural health industry since 1999. This has included many years working in natural health product development and speaking at health seminars around New Zealand.
Jacqui has a special interest in nutrition and women’s health, and a passion for helping people grasp the importance self responsibility and understanding the options available for maintaining health and true wellbeing.

John Appleton

John Appleton, a natural health advocate and long time campaigner for New Zealander’s right to make natural choices for health and wellness, has a keen interest in nutritional medicine and its role in the prevention and resolution of chronic degenerative diseases.
With 20 years involvement and experience in the natural health industry John brings to the Breast Health Foundation a passion and energy needed to keep charitable and volunteer organisations like this one ticking.

Kathleen Cole

ND, BSc, Accredited Bio-impedance analysis practitioner
Kathleen has been in the health profession for over 30 years, as a nurse working in critical care in USA and New Zealand, as a practice nurse at the Centre for Advanced Medicine, Manager and Natural Health Consultant in a herbal dispensary and health shop and is presently practising as a Naturopath in her own clinic Heart Tune in Te Atatu Peninsula and at Motherwell Natural Health in Mt Eden.
Kathleen specialises in cardiovascular health and breast health with an emphasis on education and prevention.  She has been through the breast cancer journey herself and is a passionate advocate for women taking a pro-active approach to breast health and general well being. She believes strongly in the importance of using natural health therapies and having a sense of personal control and power throughout breast cancer treatment.

Lynda Wharton

BA, ND, Dip Ac, MNZRA Registered Traditional Chinese Acupuncturist and Naturopath
Lynda has been at the forefront of the wholistic health movement in New Zealand for over 20 years.
During this time she has been in full time practice as a naturopath and Traditional Chinese Acupuncturist specialising in the wholistic treatment of female health issues.   Lynda has been a prolific communicator, as a health journalist, columnist, public speaker and book author.  She is the author of three woman’s health books, the latest of which is “Wellbeing” published by Harper Collins in 2007.
In 2008 Lynda was the recipient of the New Zealand Health Industry Distinguished Service Award in recognition of her outstanding and enduring contribution to the wholistic health profession in New Zealand.

Dr B Monica Lewis

Dr Lewis has been a general medical practitioner with an interest in nutritional medicine and hormonal health and a passion for helping people be well for over 40 years.
Dr Lewis is the co-author of several books with her medical specialist husband Dr Gerald Lewis. Monica’s focus is now largely on education and promoting an understanding of how we can achieve better health and well-being for ourselves and our families. Monica knows from the many successes of her own clinical practice that helping people develop a different approach to breast health, rather than focusing on the negative aspects of “breast cancer”, and the fear this generates, is a fundamental key in gaining control of health and wellness, for the individual and the nation.

Michael E Godfrey

Dr Godfrey, now retired from general medical practice continues to share his wealth of knowledge and expertise as a part-time naturopathic doctor at the Bay of Plenty Environmental Health Clinic in Tauranga.
Dr Godfrey’s specialty for the last 25 years has been environmental toxicology, with a particular interest and involvement in preventing and treating the adverse health effects from dental procedures.
Dr Godfrey has had been a pivotal voice of expertise and reason in the fight against genetically modified foods and crops in New Zealand and in the education of health professionals about the risks and dangers of mercury toxicity.
Dr Godfrey has been utilising the pioneering technology of breast thermography as a safe, effective and non-invasive way to monitor breast health since 2002.

Phillip Cottingham

Phillip is a registered naturopath, herbalist and body therapist with over thirty years in professional practice. With many years of teaching experience in natural therapies, Phillip co-founded Wellpark College in 1990 and has continued to guide the progress of the College to become one of the largest institutions of its kind in Australasia.
Committed to the integration of traditional medicine with modern scientific approaches, Phillip is fostering research capability amongst practitioners and students of natural medicine, with the vision to establish a natural therapies teaching hospital and research centre at Kawai Purapura, Albany (North of Auckland) for the advancement and integration of natural medicine into mainstream health care.

Chris Heron

Dr Chris Heron is a specialist Gynaecologist with interest in Laparoscopic surgery, Urogynaecology and Natural Hormone therapy to assist women. In conjunction with wife Angela, a Kinesiologist, they practice a Holistic approach to medical care. Chris was also a General Practitioner for 5 years before specializing and this has given him a greater understanding of family care. He brings this to the Breast Health Foundation with a passion for preventive care for both women and men.
